Be Bold with a Red Venetian Blind
There is a great range of red venetian blinds available for use on all windows around the home, though our favourite place for this colour is definitely in the kitchen. We just like that big, bold, glowing panel matching up with all the other reds that are usually somewhere about in kitchens (or perhaps we just liked ketchup too much when we were kids!). Food stuffs like tomatoes, peppers, chillies and red apples all bring vibrancy to the kitchen so why not turn up the volume with a red kitchen venetian blind at your window. If you have been conservative with your colour palette when choosing your units, worktops and floor and wall finishes, and left out your favourite bold colours (like most of us do!), your window covering gives you the chance to try that red colour that you knew you wanted but did not dare take the risk with. Add a matching table cloth, tea towel and apron to tie it all together.
A made to measure red venetian blind will also be a very practical and usable window covering. In many UK homes the kitchen has been planned to face out onto a garden or an open space which will mean that this window will often have the most extensive view of the sky. On a sunny day, in particular when the sun is low in winter, the sunlight can penetrate through the window causing problems with glare for anyone working in the kitchen and facing the window. A venetian blind will allow you to adjust the angle of the slats to block the glare from the sunlight but still allow plenty of light through the window. At night you can simply close the slats for privacy. However this is not a blackout blind so there won’t be complete room darkening when the sun comes up in the morning, but that's not usually a problem in the kitchen.
Don't think red venetian blinds are only for the kitchen though. A bold panel of colour can look just as great at your bathroom window as well as your lounge or bedroom windows. A football themed child's bedroom might be crying out for a large panel of red at the window, though be careful when selecting venetian blinds for any bedroom as the room darkening qualities may not meet your expectations on its own. Team with curtains or a blackout blind for the best of both worlds of flexibility and room darkening.
If you are considering a red venetian window blind then there is a wide range of shades available from soft pink right through to darker terracotta and russet brown. Many of these colours will also be available in both matt and gloss finishes and look out also for metallic effects as well as patterned slats, and slats with perforations. If you are looking for a red wooden venetian blind then there are quite a few natural reddish wood tones as well as stained and painted finishes.
