Black Venetian Blinds
Black Venetians - A Timeless Classic
Some might say 'Black is back!' but we say it never goes anywhere. Black venetian blinds are always one of our best-selling colours whatever 'in' colour of the moment has made its way to the top. We think black never goes out of fashion for most of us in the UK, in both clothing and interior design, but to keep our thoughts fresh, designers always seem to be in the middle of a process of reinvention and reframing of this classic colour. Car manufacturers know only too well how we feel about this colour, and they have been continuously supplying us with black vehicles from the first cars that were available to the public to today's top end supercars.
Like white made to measure venetian blinds, black is always stylish, simple, modern and a safe colour choice, as it will go with just about any other colour you might have in your interior design scheme. They are also practical and when open this colour is least noticed by the eye meaning that the slats of the venetian blind will seem to intrude least on the view out. This is probably why black venetian blinds are used most often as the integral blinds sandwiched between the two panes of a double glazed unit in some bi-fold doors sets and internal corporate partitions where they are used for privacy and glare control.
If you are looking for blinds for a standard window in an office environment to control glare and provide privacy then consider a perforated venetian blind as these will give you the maximum view out whilst giving you complete control. If you are looking for your home then as well as perforated blinds most good ranges should also have some black patterned venetian blinds. If it is a simple plain coloured blind that you want then you will likely be able to pick whether you have the aluminium slats in a matt or a polished high gloss finish. In addition to these check whether there are metallic looking finishes to look at such as hammered or pearlescent. If you want something different from aluminium then popular at the moment are black wooden venetian blinds in natural dark wood finishes stained to look like natural ebony.
In the home a made to measure black venetian blind should look great at most white windows as the darkness of the blind will be neutral in providing a two tone effect. In a modern kitchen there may be gloss black kitchen units or worktops which would be great with a matching window covering. Don't worry that the room might end up too dark if you are planning a lot of dark colours in your kitchen scheme like this as you can always add white or a light colour on the walls and ceiling to brighten everything up and reflect daylight around the room.
